THE MUSIC LIVES ON AT YARLET SCHOOL

When we had to cancel our Young Musician of the Year competition in June 2020, we were all so disappointed. However, this term we felt able to rearrange the event as we now have all pupils back in school. Operating the competition safely was a challenge but with the help of our Year 7 pupils who operated the cameras and live production software, we broadcast the event via our YouTube Channel and patched in the judges via zoom. Although we would not have chosen to run the competition in this way, with more than 500 viewers, the event attracted the largest audience ever! The competition itself was as impressive and exciting as ever and under the pressure of lights and live cameras, our young performers did not disappoint. A massive congratulations to everyone who took part. As with all competitions, there had to be winners so well done to the following pupils: Freddy (Junior Vocalist), Henry (Junior Instrumentalist), Adelaide (Senior Vocalist) and Reuben (Senior Instrumentalist). Congratulations also go to Dillan and Minnie for highly commended performances. Many thanks to our judges, Oliver Walker (Head of Music from Repton School) and Mrs Tarling (Event Sponsor) and also to our accompanist and all vocal and instrumental teachers at Yarlet School.
