Yarlet School | Wrap-around care and boarding

Wrap-around care and flexi-boarding

Wrap-around care

The normal school day begins at 8.40am.  However, any child can be dropped off at school from 8am if this helps parents with their work commitments and there is no additional charge for this service.

School ends at 3.30pm in Pre-Prep but after school care is offered to families until 6pm.  This is charged at ¬£5 per hour and children are provided with tea plus lots of fun educational activities.

When children enter Main School, there are a number of collection times for parents to choose from and parents can vary these on a day to day basis:

4.30pm - The earliest possible collection time, pupils will have completed a compulsory games session between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

5.30pm - Pupils will have had a study period with a teacher. Most younger pupils complete most of their homework at school if they stay here for this additional hour.

6.00pm - Pupils will have had a short break and some tea.

There is no additional charge for after school activities in Main School.

Ideal for busy parents and perfect for children who want to enjoy more time with their friends, flexi-boarding operates on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Parents may select ocassional nights or book every Wednesday and/or every Thursday for the whole term.

Whether pupils are planning to move on to boarding schools or not, they love boarding at Yarlet where they have a great time with their friends as well as developing independence, self-reliance and essential social skills. Those who do subsequently attend boarding schools feel that boarding at Yarlet helped to prepare them.

On boarding nights, the pupils enjoy special activities on and sometimes off the premises.  They have access to a common room, pool table, table football game, dart board and even an X-box!  At certain times of the year we hold special sleepover parties such as at Halloween, Christmas, Springtime and a Summer Camping Night.

Flexi-boarding is hugely successful and your children's safety and wellbeing is our highest priority. It is reassuring to know that our most recent full integrated inspection report not only confirmed that we meet all the National Minimum Standards but judged Yarlet to be 'excellent' in every boarding category.
