U9 NETBALL MATCH V DENSTONE

Netball Feb 2015 004

After watching the U10's play, Yarlet U9s were raring to go!

The excitement got the better of us in the 1st quarter though and we weren't quite sure where we were allowed to go on the court. Alice made some strong passes in the centre and Ella had a few tries as Goal Attack but we were unlucky not to score. Denstone managed to get 2 goals in as Tania and Maddie tried their best defending the net.

We made some changes in the second and third quarter. Eleanor enjoyed running around at Wing Defence and got into some lovely spaces while Danielle was assertive at Centre. Ellen and Ella stepped into Goal Keeper and Goal Defence, making some cracking interceptions and marking well. Unfortunately they struggled to get the ball out of the defensive third so our attackers didn't get much play, even though they shouted lots, particularly Purdy as Wing Attack! There was no score at all in the second quarter and our opposition only managed to score one in the third quarter so great credit goes to our defenders.

We went into the final quarter 3-0 down but spirits were still high. We marked much better and managed to string lots more passes together between us. Sophie had an excellent shot at goal and got it in. Maddie had another shot and was unlucky not to score. Unfortunately Denstone got one more while our concentration lapsed, making the final score 4-1 to Denstone.

An excellent first game U9. Well played everyone!
