A new team put together for the rugby season and many coming to terms with their positions on the pitch, put in a spirited performance against a well drilled, powerful, Prestfelde team.
With a shaky start, Yarlet conceded early on, but then started to give as good as they got, with some aggressive tacklings, and good defence.
Although we could not penetrate further up the pitch, Gregor Beardsmore, led by example and was backed equally by Joseph Archer, Sam Archer, and the pack started to compete for a good ball.
Prestfelde's clinical finishings put them 28 points clear at half time, but after some advice from Mr Archer, the boys kept a good attitude and spirit.
Yarlet took the game to Presfelde and pushed them back to their try line, with some good play, and running from the backs. One passage of play left Presfelde defending for their lives for a good 5 minutes, and Yarlet went over, only for the referee to disallow what looked like a good try!
The game ebbed and flowed, Sam Archer had a tooth knocked out, and Edward Cartwright withdrew twice from the pitch, but showed courage to return to the field.
The final score was 42-0, the difference between the teams came down to Prestfelde's ability to recycle the ball quicker and move it out to their backs and wingers, that said Yarlet can be proud of their performance.
A huge thank you to Mr Archer for his valuable assistance and for producing this match report!
