WELL DONE TO THE U11 GIRLS AND U13 BOYS AT TERRA NOVA

U11 Girls U13 Boys at Terra Nova

On Wednesday 9th May the girls competed in their first ever cricket tournament. ALL the girls looked like naturals despite only having two games sessions of cricket. Our first match was against St Anselms where Yarlet took control by fielding first where Ellen and Freya caught the ball making the opponents lose a total of 10 points. When we came to bat the pairings were perfect! Danielle, Raphie, Freya and Ella scored a 4, the game finished 32- 41 to Yarlet. Sadly our second was different as Prestfelde had very strong batters and fielders that didn't drop anything, the final score 49-24. The U11 girls finished on a high with a huge score of 38-20 versus Moreton Hall to finish second overall in their group. Excellent work girls and enjoyed by all!

Yarlet visited Terra Nova who decided to bat first, Charlie B. and Jon soon set about their batsmen with some fast accurate bowling and Terra Nova were soon in trouble. Charlie clean bowled their opener and Jon soon followed suit taking two quick wickets. The second of these was a fantastic catch from Charlie B at mid-on. Terra Nova found it very difficult score runs with Ben keeping wicket excellently and Jamie C. and Owen fielding well in the deep. Noah and Sam then took further wickets with excellent bowling and by the end of their 16 overs Terra Nova were 53 for 6.

Jon and Sam opened the batting for Yarlet and soon set about their bowlers with some great attacking stroke play. Jon hit consecutive fours before launching a six over square leg off the same over. Sam also hit some lovely square drives for four and with just six overs Yarlet had reached 54 for the loss of no wickets. Jon had scored 32 runs and Sam 22 in a resounding victory for the visitors. Well done lads!
